Pakistan Meteorological Department predicts rain and storms in Pakistan from today to Sunday

The Meteorological Department has predicted rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms in the country.
The Meteorological Department said on Wednesday that westerly winds are likely to enter the upper and central regions of the country from the night of May 7. Moist winds are also expected to enter the central and southern regions from May 7.

Thus, intermittent rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms are likely in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sidhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur) from the evening of May 7 to May 12.
During this time, heavy rain and hail are also expected at a few places.
According to the Meteorological Department, intermittent rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Diamer, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit, Hunza, Ganchhe and Shigar in Gilgit-Baltistan from May 8 to 12.
Similarly, intermittent rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala and Lahore from the night of May 7 to May 11.
During this period, hail is also expected at a few places, while wind and rain are likely in Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali and Jhang from May 8 to 10.
Intermittent rain with gusty winds and thundershowers is also expected in Toba Tek Singh, Chiniot, Sahiwal, Faisalabad, Layyah, Bhakkar, Multan, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalnagar and Pakpattan.
The Meteorological Department says that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from the evening of May 7 to May 12, rain with gusty winds is expected in Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra and Abbottabad.

Similarly, intermittent rain with gusty winds and thundershowers is also expected in Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda and Nowshera.

During this time, heavy rain and hail are also expected at a few places. Intermittent rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Kurram, Orakzai, Kohat, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan from May 8 to 10.

In Balochistan province, rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Quetta, Zhob, Barkhan, Sibi, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbela, Panjgur, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah and Awaran from May 7 evening to May 10.

Similarly, in Sindh province, rain with gusty winds and thunderstorms is likely in Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpur Khas, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Tando Allah Yar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tharparkar, Sanghar, Umer Kot and Mithi from May 8 evening to May 10.

Possible impacts and precautions
There is a possibility of damage to vulnerable infrastructure (electric poles, trees, vehicles, solar panels, etc.) due to wind, hail and heavy rain.
Farmers have been asked to arrange their crops, especially wheat, according to the weather conditions.
The authorities have directed all concerned agencies to remain ‘alert’ and take all necessary measures to avoid any untoward incident.
